Students currently in grades four or five may apply for the arts@baythorn program, where they will have the opportunity to explore the disciplines of Dance, Drama, Visual Arts, and Music in a cooperative learning environment.
To learn more about the arts@baythorn program, you and your family are invited to attend an information evening at Baythorn Public School on:
Thursday, January 19th at 7:00 p.m.

Once again, Beckett Farm PS will be holding a spelling bee competition for students in grades 3-8. I have sent home the list of words that will be used in Round 1 next week. After Round 2, four to five students from our class will be selected to participate in the finals taking place towards the end of February. All families are welcome to attend  this exciting event!

In the classroom...
In Math, we are finishing up our unit on Data Management and will be having a summative test on Thursday, Jan. 19th. In class, students have been practicing how to create different types of graphs in order to display and analyse the data. We will continue to gather data next week and select the appropriate graph in which to display the data.
In Social Studies, students have begun their research on one of the seven physical regions of Canada. They will be creating a brochure to highlight the many features of this region. Please sign the project outline sent home.
Please continue to ask your child about what they are learning at school. Remember to also ask, "What was your rose, bud, and thorn today?" I would also like to add a gentle reminder to not send any peanut/nut products to school, as well as any food with eggs (for example, scrambled, fried, boiled) as we have students in our class with severe allergies to these foods.
Thank you everyone for your generosity before the break, and your continued support in your child's learning and living at school.
Sincerely.
Mrs. McIntosh
